ShipWorks version 6.3 or later allows you to save your advanced searches as a Saved Search. When you create a Saved Search, the search is added to the Filters panel so that you can quickly and easily select it whenever you need to obtain the search results without the need to create the advanced search each time you wish to view the results.
This guide will walk you through how to create a Saved Search, how to use a Saved Search, how to modify your Saved Searches and how to convert Saved Searches to filters.
First Things First
In order to use Saved Searches you must be on ShipWorks version 6.3 or later. You can check your version of ShipWorks by clicking on the Help tab and then on About ShipWorks. If you need to upgrade your version of ShipWorks, please see this article for assistance.
You must also be logged in to ShipWorks as a user that has access to creating and modifying filters.
This article assumes that you are familiar with creating advanced searches in ShipWorks.
Creating a Saved Search
1. After configuring an advanced search and verifying that the results of the advanced search are correct, click on the Save Search button located just to the left of the Search field.
2. Give the Saved Search a name. Then, select the folder in which you would like to save your search. Click Finish.
Your Saved Search now displays in the list of filters. Notice that the Saved Search has a magnifying glass icon to identify it as a Saved Search.
Things to Know
Saved searches do not inherit conditions from the folder that the Saved Search is saved in like filters do. For more information on folder conditions, please see page 31 of our Filter Guide.
Using a Saved Search
Now that you have saved your advanced search as a Saved Search you can click on it at any time to view the search results.
When you click on a Saved Search, the Advanced Search options related to the Saved Search will also be displayed.
Modifying a Saved Search
1. Right click on the Saved Search and select Edit.
Select the saved search you wish to edit and click the Save Search button.
2. Modify the conditions related to the saved search and click the OK button.
Managing Your Saved Searches
You can edit, rearrange, copy, sort and delete your Saved Searches using the Filter Organizer.
1. Click on the Manage tab and then on the Filters button.
Or, you can right click on any filter or Saved Search and select Manage Filters.
2. Select the Saved Search and use the buttons located on the right-hand side of the Filters Organizer to modify the search as needed.
Converting Saved Searches to Filters
You can can convert Saved Searches to filters when needed. This may be helpful when you do need the conditions of a folder to be applied to the conditions of your Saved Search.
For example, if your Saved Search is in a folder that has a condition limiting it to a specific store in ShipWorks, the folder's condition will not be inherited by the Saved Search. Converting the Saved Search into a filter solves this issue.
1. Right click on the Saved Search and select Convert to Filter.
The icon will change to indicate that the search is now a filter.
Converting Filters into Saved Searches
It is possible to convert any filter into a Saved Search. You may wish to do this if you would like the conditions of the filter to be easily modified within the Advanced Search panel rather than having to modify the conditions in the Filter Editor.
1. Right click on the Filter and select Convert to Saved Search.
The icon will change to indicate that the filter is now an advanced search. The conditions of the search will also be displayed in the Advanced Search panel.
Loading a Filter as a Saved Search
If you wish to view a filter as a Saved Search without converting it:
1. Right click on the filter and select Load as Saved Search.
This will load the conditions of the filter into the Advanced Search panel without actually converting the filter into a Saved Search. This may be useful if you wish to use the conditions of the filter as the basis for a new advanced search.
