UPS Rate Changes - Dec 27, 2020 | Overview
The start of a new year typically signals a change in rates across all postal carriers in the United States, as well as the addition or removing of services from their options.
An increase in UPS rates and service charges goes into effect on December 27, 2020. These increases affect a number of UPS services, with UPS® Ground, UPS Air and International services increasing an average of 4.9% and value-added service costs increasing as well. The additional handling surcharge will also see a price difference in 2021.
2021 will also see a change in the list of ZIP codes to which Delivery Area Surcharges and Extended Area Surcharges apply.

UPS® Ground, UPS Air and International services increasing an average of 4.9%

The rates for certain Value-Added services and Other Charges will increase
The rates for UPS Air Freight within and between the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico will increase an average net 4.8%

The rates for certain Value-Added services and Other Charges will increase.
There will be an increase in shipping charges and fees for value-added services which could increase your overall shipping cost. View All Changes to Package Value-Added Services and Other Charges.
The increases include but are not limited to:
Rebill fee of $18.00 will be charged for each request to change the billing account for a shipment.

Additional Handling increased charges will be:
Additional Handling Weight (Domestic) from $24.00 to $25.00
Length and Width (Domestic) from $15.00 to $16.00
Packaging from $14.25 to $15.25

Large Package Surcharges are increasing:
Commercial (Domestic) from $100.00 to $105.00
Residential (Domestic) from $120.00 to $130.00
The rates for UPS Air Freight within and between the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico will increase an average net 4.8%.
2021 will also see changes to the following:
January 10, 2021: An Additional Handling charge will be applied to any package with its length plus girth combined exceeding 105 inches.
April 11, 2021: Additional Handling and Large Package Surcharge rates for non-Hundredweight Service packages will differ by zone, and effective July 11, 2021, Additional Handling and Large Package Surcharge rates for Hundredweight Service packages will differ by zone.
