General: Upload Shipment Data without Purchasing Postage

Background

You can upload shipment data to your order platform without actually processing and purchasing a shipping label using the Other provider option in ShipWorks. Since the Other shipping carrier option is not integrated with a particular shipping carrier, you can process a shipment with this option and then features such as email notifications, tracking info uploads, status updates, etc. will be triggered without processing a shipment with a shipping provider.

The Other carrier option is often used when you have two orders that were shipped in a single package or for shipments process outside of ShipWorks. To ship two orders in one package, select one of the orders and use the Ship Orders dialog as normal. Then for the second order in the package, you can "ship" the order, but use the Other carrier option. Since the Other carrier option is not integrated with a particular shipping carrier, creating a label with this option triggers all the features such as email notifications, tracking info uploads, status updates, etc. without purchasing extra postage.

First Things First

Prior to proceeding, you will need to configure Other as a shipping provider in ShipWorks.

We recommend that you run the latest version of the ShipWorks software. This allows you to access the latest tools and features and ensures the steps in this article will work for you. The Process

Processing an Order with the Other Carrier Option

1. Choose the order you'd like to process with the Other provider. Then, click on the Home tab then the Ship Orders button.

2. On the Ship Orders screen, select the Other shipping provider from the Provider: drop-down menu.

3. Next, in the Shipment Details section, enter the details of the shipment into the available fields.

4. Once the details of the shipment are entered correctly, click on the Create Label button to process the shipment.

Any actions that are configured to run when a label is created will be triggered for this order.
