Automate ShipWorks in Scan-to-Ship View
By combining Shipping profiles with Scan-to-Ship you can automate the shipping process making it possible to ship more in less time. Below is a description of Scan-to-Ship and of Shipping Profiles, how each can help automate the shipping process, and links to available articles and resources to assist you with configuring both.
Note
Scan-to-Ship was labeled as Order Lookup Mode prior to version 7.3. If you are on an earlier version of the ShipWorks software you will you will see Scan-to Ship listed as Order Lookup in the software.
Throughout several of the Scan-to-Ship help articles we mention using Scan-to-Ship and a barcode scanner to perform many of the shipping tasks in ShipWorks. Let’s look at Scan-to-Ship, what it is and how it can help to make the shipping process much more streamlined.
Scan-to-Ship gives you the tools to easily search for orders, create shipments, weigh packages, apply shipping profiles and to print shipping labels with a barcode scan. By registering your barcode scanner with ShipWorks you can begin scanning a barcode to quickly locate an order, to print a shipping label for an order, or both. You can also configure ShipWorks to automatically import the weight and dimensions of a package from your scale or Cubiscan dimensioner into ShipWorks when configuring a shipment using Scan-to-Ship.
When downloading orders into ShipWorks using ODBC, it is also possible to download an order with a barcode scan. This may be useful when you wish to only import the order for which you are currently shipping.
In the Shipping an Order article, we mentioned that shipping profiles can save you time by allowing you to apply a set of commonly used defaults (such as applying an expedited shipping service, a weight, turn on insurance, enter dimensions, select signature required, and turn on email notifications), all with just a couple of mouse clicks.
Shipping Profiles can also be applied automatically to a shipment using Shipping Rules. Shipping Rules allow you to define for which orders a shipping profile should be applied to automatically.
