Setting the Default File Name of a Saved Report
ShipWorks gives you the ability to export and to save data to an external file, such as a .csv file or Excel spreadsheet. You can even use actions in ShipWorks to automate saving a report on a schedule. This article will guide you through how to configure the default name for the file or report when it is saved.
You will need to be logged into ShipWorks as a user with permission to edit templates.
In this article we will set the default name for the Orders with Items template in ShipWorks. However, the process is the same for any template in the ShipWorks software.
2. Scroll down to and select the template you wish to edit from the list of templates on the left of the Template Manager screen. In this example, we will use the Orders with Items template.
3. Click Edit button, select the Settings tab, then click on the Saving link.
4. Set the default Name by entering the name for the saved file in the Name: field. For example, we want to save the report with a name of Daily Orders with Items Report and we wish it to be saved as a .csv (comma delimited) file. So, we will enter Daily Orders with Items Report.csv into the Name: field.
Tip
You can also include a value within the name that will automatically generate either the date or the date and a timestamp for when the file was saved. Here's how:
Just the date - We can place the value {//Generated} within the file name to include the date the file was saved within the file name. For example, a name of Daily Report_{//Generated}.csv would save a csv file with the name Daily Report_8-15-2017.csv.
Date and Timestamp - Just like the previous example, you can include the value {sw:ToShortDate(//Generated)} to include the date and time the file was saved. So, a name of Daily Report_{sw:ToShortDate(//Generated)}.csv would generate a csv file with the name Daily Report_2017-08-15T14_12_20.7278676Z.csv. (file was save on 08/15/2017 at 2:12pm)
5. After naming the file, click the Save button. Then, click Close.
