Using the Order Editor
The Order Editor gives you the ability to view or modify order details, to view history related to an order, to view or modify an address associated to an order and to view audit information related to an order in ShipWorks.
This article will guide you through how to open the Order Editor for a selected order and how to view and modify details associated to the order.
In order to view the Order Editor and to modify details associated to an order you must be logged in to ShipWorks as a user with order editing rights.
The first step is to locate the order that you would like to open into the Order Editor. Not sure how to search for orders in ShipWorks? We have a guide for that.
The easiest way to locate an order is to enter the Order Number or customer's name into the Search all Orders field.
There are two ways to open the selected order into the Order Editor:
Right-click the order and select Edit Order.
OR
With the order selected, click on the Home tab and then click the Edit button in the Orders ribbon.
When the Order Editor opens you will be on the Details tab. There are four tabs that make up the Order Editor: Details, History, Address, and Audit.
We will take a look at each. Let's begin with the Details tab.
The Details tab shows you basic information about the order including:
Items on the order
Charges associated to the order
Customer information
Notes associated to the order
The order's status
The order's requested shipping method
All of the blue, underlined links allow you to add or modify information associated to the order. For example, you can view the customer information by clicking on View Customer, change the customer associated to the order by clicking Change..., add an item to the order by clicking Add Item and so on.
The History tab shows you everything that has happened with an order, like shipments related to the order, emails sent and anything that was printed for the order such as a packing slip or invoice.
Just like on the Details tab, you can click any of the blue, underlined links to view, edit or add shipments, view or compose emails to the customer, or view what was printed.
The audit tab gives you insight into what has occurred historically with the order, what user performed the action, when the action occurred, on what computer, and so on.
Audit records can be a bit more in-depth than what we are covering in this article. So, we have a separate article all about viewing audit records in ShipWorks.
