Manage Products and Inventory Levels
After initially setting up your product catalog and stock counts in The ShipWorks Hub you will need to manage your products and inventory moving forward.
Fortunately, there are a couple of ways you can go about making sure that your product information and inventory levels are maintained.
-
You can manually update product information and inventory levels directly in The Hub.
-
You can import a CSV file that includes bulk product updates and/or inventory levels. This may be helpful when restocking inventory for products you currently stock.
When you need to update one or just a few products and/or inventory counts in The Hub you can easily do so. Let's take a look at how.
2. Click on the Products link in the sidebar menu.
3. Locate the products that you wish to update and click the Edit button.
Tip
Did you know you can easily filter products by warehouse and/or sort the products by the SKU or Name columns?

4. Update the Product Details as needed.
5. Update inventory information.
-
When updating current inventory rows, the following fields can be modified.
-
Warehouse
-
Location
-
Quantity
-
-
You can also add additional inventory rows as needed by clicking the Add Row button. This may be useful when adding stock for an item to additional warehouse locations.
6. Click the Save button to save your updates.
Tip
Did you know?
-
When adding additional inventory rows, you may need to first add a warehouse location to which the stock counts will be added. This is done on the Settings link in The Hub. This article will show you how to add locations in The Hub.
-
Products that have inventory in more than one warehouse location will be indicated by Multiple in the Warehouse column on the Products grid. The total inventory counts for all locations will be displayed.
Click on Multiple to expand the row so that you can view individual warehouse location inventory levels.
When the need to update product details and/or inventory counts in bulk arises, importing the updates from a CSV fle is the quickest and easiest method of doing so. This can be useful when updating stock counts for many items, such as when incoming products are received.
Tip
When importing product details and stock levels using a CSV file, keep the following in mind:
-
Values entered into the CSV file for SKUs already in the ShipWorks product catalog, when imported, will overwrite the current values for those products.
-
Only the SKU and Name fields are required in the CSV file. This means, for example, that if you are only updating stock levels you can configure your CSV file so that only the SKU, Name, and InventoryCounts columns have data.
-
Quantities entered into the InventoryCounts column in the CSV file are not appended to, but will overwrite the values in the ShipWorks product catalog. For example:
-
SKU 123 currently has a quantity of 5 in The Hub.
-
A CSV file is uploaded containing SKU 123 with an InventoryCount value of 10.
-
The new inventory quantity for SKU 123 will be 10 in the product catalog.
