Creating a UPS Return Label
ShipWorks makes it easy to create a return label for UPS shipments processed in ShipWorks. You have the option of creating a printed return label or of having UPS email the return label directly to your customer.
1. Select the order for which you would like to generate a return label.
Hint: You can quickly search for and locate an order by using the Search All Orders box at the top of the ShipWorks application. If you know the order number or customer's first or last name you can enter it into the box and quickly locate the order.
2. Next, let's create the return shipment. Depending upon whether or not your order has multiple shipments associated to it you will need to do this in one of two ways.
a. With the order selected, click on the Shipping tab and then click on the Return button.
b. Clicking the Return button will open the Ship Orders screen for you and create a new, return shipment. You can expand the Return Shipment section and verify that the This is a return shipment checkbox is checked.
a. With the order selected click on the Home tab and then click Ship Orders.
b. On the Ship Orders screen, select the shipment from the Shipments list on the left. Then, select Ship Again > Ship Again as Return.
c. Selecting Copy Copy as Return creates a new, return shipment and selects it for you. You can expand the Return Shipment section and verify that the This is a return shipment checkbox is checked.
4. Scroll down to and expand the Return Label section by clicking on the expand / collapse button.
a. The This is a return shipment checkbox should be checked for you. If it is not, please check this box.
b. From the UPS Returns drop-down menu, select the correct option for your return label.
Electronic Return Label will send the label via email to the customer listed under the “TO” field of your selected shipment.
Print Return Label allows you to print the label yourself and send it to a customer with an outbound shipment.
UPS Print and Mail: UPS will print and mail a return label to the customer’s address listed in the “TO” field. In Example 2.3, the label will be sent to 123 Main Street, St. Louis, Missouri, 63123
Returns Plus, 1 Attempt: UPS will make one attempt to pickup the package from your customer (at the address provided in the “TO” field). As with all UPS Returns services, your company is not billed for transportation until the package is delivered.
Returns Plus, 3 Attempt: UPS will make three attempts to pickup the package from your customer (at the address provided in the “TO” field). As with all UPS Returns services, your company is not billed for transportation until the package is delivered.
c. Enter the contents of the package into the Contents field. You can select a default value for this field from the drop-down menu to the right of this field. For Example: If you would like the Contents field to automatically include item details for the first item on the order, you could select the Item Name (1st Only) option.
d. (Optional) - If you selected Electronic Return Label as the UPS Returns option above, you can enter an email address at which you will be notified if the return label was not emailed successfully.
5. Once all of your Shipment Details and Return Shipment options are correct, click the Create Label button to generate your return label.
6. Click the Close button to exit the Ship Orders screen.
