Shopify: Order Tags
ShipWorks allows you to download Shopify order tags so that orders in ShipWorks can be filtered by the tags associated to your Shopify orders. This article will guide you through the process of enabling Shopify order tags and through creating filters to organize your Shopify orders by the tags associated to them.
To download Shopify order tags:
-
At least one Shopify store needs to be connected to ShipWorks.
-
You must be on a ShipWorks plan with access to The ShipWorks Hub.
-
Please reach out to ShipWorks Support and request that downloading of Shopify order tags be enabled for your ShipWorks account.
A few things to note about Shopify order tags:
-
Shopify order tags are downloaded into ShipWorks as Internal Notes and are displayed in the Notes panel when a Shopify order is selected.
-
All Shopify order tags will be displayed in the Notes panel beginning with the word Tag followed by the Shopify order tags.
-
For example: Tag- Approved or Tag- Packed, etc.
-
-
Multiple Shopify order tags assigned to orders in Shopify will download as individual notes in ShipWorks.
-
For example: If an order has three tags associated to it in Shopify, there will be three individual notes in ShipWorks. One for each tag.
-
To view Shopify order tags associated to an order in ShipWorks:
-
Select the order for which you would like to view the Shopify order tags. Learn how to search for orders in ShipWorks.
-
View the note(s) containing the Shopify order tag(s) in the Notes panel.
Orders in ShipWorks can be filtered by Shopify order tags. This can be helpful when you need to group or sort orders by the tags associated to your Shopify orders.
Learn more about creating filters in our series of articles about creating filters.
-
Name the filter. For this example, we will name the filter with the order tag we are filtering. Then, click the Next button.
-
Click the blue text Order Total and select For any > Note.
-
Click the second Add Condition button (located under the line 'For any note in the order...'). A new line will appear that says Note Text > Equals > [blank].
-
Enter the Shopify order tag exactly as it appears in the Notes panel in ShipWorks. For this example, we will enter 'Tag- Approved'. Then, click the Next button.
Additional Filter Options
In step 7 we left the filter condition set to Equals which means that the note must match what is entered into the text field exactly.
There are more options available by clicking on the green word Equals. For example:
-
Contains searches for any note that includes (or contains) the text entered into the text field. If we enter 'Approved' into the text field, ShipWorks will filter orders with a note that contains the word 'approved' anywhere within the note.
-
Begins with searches for any note that starts with the text entered into the text field. If we enter 'Tag' into the text field, ShipWorks will filter orders with a note that starts with 'Tag' followed by any additional text. So, basically it would find any orders with Shopify tags.
Experiment with the options available to see what works best for you.

-
Click the Finish button then the Close button. The filter you created will now appear in the Filters panel. Select the filter to view the filtered list of orders.
