WorldShip: Troubleshoot Connection Issues
After connecting ShipWorks to the UPS WorldShip application, it may be necessary to troubleshoot the WorldShip Setup. This article will guide you through a few of the troubleshooting steps available to you.
-
Open the WorldShip application.
-
Click Import/Export Data Create / Edit Map. Then, select the Export to ShipWorks map and click the Edit button.
If you see the Edit ‘Export to ShipWorks’ export map window, the connection was successful and no changes need to be made.
If, however, you see this error: Connection failed: SQLState: '28000' SQL Server Error: 18456 [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Login failed for user 'sa' (or something similar), some additional changes will be necessary.
The first thing to check is to ensure that the password used to connect ShipWorks to WorldShip is correct:
-
Open the Windows ODBC window (for Windows XP: Start Run type; odbccp32.cpl and for other Windows versions: Start Search ODBC)
-
Click to open the Data Source (ODBC).
-
Click the ShipWorks WorldShip Connector list Configure.
-
Click Next through the first screen, which should already be set up correctly with the server details.
-
Choose the With SQL Server authentication using a login ID and password entered by the user.
-
Input the database password for your ShipWorks database and then click Finish.
-
Verify the connection by clicking the Test Data Source button to ensure it shows TESTS COMPLETED SUCCESSFULLY!
-
-
In the WorldShip application, click Import/Export Data Create Edit Map.
-
Select the Export to ShipWorks map then click the ODBC Login button.
Delete the ‘starred out’ password and input the correct database password for your ShipWorks database. Click OK.
-
Select the Import from ShipWorks for Keyed Import map. Click the ODBC Login button.
Delete the ‘starred out’ password and input the correct database password for your ShipWorks database. Click OK.
-
Select the Import from ShipWorks for Hands-off map and click the ODBC Login button.
Delete the ‘starred out’ password and Input the correct database password for your ShipWorks database. Click OK.
Now when clicking to ‘Edit’ one of these mappings, you should no longer get an error but instead view the actual mappings themselves.
-
-
Open the WorldShip application.
-
Click Import/Export Data and mouse over the Automatic Export.
After Processing Shipment, ensure this is pointing to the Export to ShipWorks map. If it is not, click More, choose the Export to ShipWorks map in the list, and click Export.
-
Do this on each and every computer where WorldShip is installed and where shipments will be exported from ShipWorks to WorldShip. If you encounter an error message, see the “Troubleshooting the ODBC Data Sources Registry Entry Error” below.
From the Control Panel:
-
Access Administrative Tools and then Data Sources (ODBC).
Alternatively, you can invoke odbcad32.exe.
-
Click the User DSN tab, and then click the “Add” button.
-
Click SQL Server, and then click the “Finish” button.
-
In the “Name” text box, enter “Test” and click the “Finish” button.
-
Click “OK”.
-
Return to ShipWorks and click the “Create WorldShip Connection” button.
